Our heroes had all agreed to meet in the staff room at 9.00 to give them 2 hours' practice at what they were to teach the children; but they had not reckoned on the previous night so it was at 10.15 that they gathered to discuss the previous night's little soiree: aching heads, queasy stomachs, trembling limbs, grazed knees, and one or two other unmentionable items. The early arrivals were fearful that Len might have crashed (himself or the bus?) but he finally arrived at 11! Meanwhile, a small dedicated band had been practising N.W. Clog, and thus ‘The Hot Toddies’ came into being. Down to the class room they went ‘late’ as one pupil (O. L. B.) pointed out. “He's asking for it”, someone muttered, as they began with the clog.

By now the kids had got used to Mick and ‘Aufstehen’, their response was immediate every time. But this time as he called “Aufstehen, bitte” someone was heard to remark “ZWEI Werte!” By now he was using a little more German, and the air was punctuated with cries of “Auf”, “Acht”, and “Stern”, and the reply, “Ach So”. Clog was followed by some Cotswold dancing, but all this was too much for our heroes' protesting limbs, so while the kids danced they went to watch Andy and Alan (I) putting the sword team through its paces. By now they were really picking it up, having recovered from the confusion of Andy's earlier instruction, “Seize the hilt!”

After dinner our heroes decided to take their last look over the town. While Toddy and Andy set off for the Stadthalle to negotiate a spot during Steeleye Span's forthcoming concert, the rest set off in small groups for the town centre.
